Located in an unspoilt part of West Dorset, within easy reach of The National Trust Golden Cap Estate, this area is famed for coastal path walks, child friendly beaches, excellent pub and restaurant food, and a slower pace of life.
On site facilities include a small heated swimming pool excellent for a swim, to sit around for drinks, or perhaps an early morning dip to start the day (open May to September), large areas of lawn for games outdoors, an indoor games barn with pool and table tennis tables, and two small play parks for tots and older children. Dogs are welcome in our cottages, and may use our paddock for exercise.
For further rambles the local sites of Pilsden Pen and Lamberts Castle provide a more challenging walk and spectacular views.
Many other varied entertainments are available in the area including shooting (seasonal), fishing, riding, golf, art and cookery courses (subject to availability), along with organised sites offering family activities. Our local town of Bridport, a thriving market town, with a regular farmers market as featured on TV in 'River Cottage', has also been dubbed 'Notting Hill on sea' by The Telegraph (March 07) due to its rapidly growing selection of specialists shops, restaurants and Electric cinema. Whilst wearing this new garb with good grace it remains a traditional local town.
Lyme Regis provides a colourful busy seaside town with pubs, bistros and gift shops alongside the seafront, a charming privately run aquarium on the long projecting stone Cobb (as featured in many period dramas), a wholesome 'bucket and spade' beach area and an old fashioned sweet shop all to take you back half a century to gentler times. Bridport provides the sea in the form of the recently redeveloped West Bay with an excellent fish restaurant, and Burton Bradstock (known locally as Hive Beach) which has a well run cafe which during the evening hours is transformed into a restaurant, a popular beach to stay late and watch the sunset.
